Another queen excluder question

I am planning on running my hives similar to the set up like in the point of view by Jerry Hayes.

I plan on a couple of variances:
A standard bottom board, entrance reducer and a parallel slatted rack on the bottom of the brood boxes.

I am looking at queen excluders and do not see one that is "seven wire" I am inclined to use the welded and crimped unit but it looks as though it has six wires.
Of the available queen excluders, which one would work best for this application?
Could the wood bound one be modified by cutting a notch across the front instead of installing the spacer material which would be 3/8 or 1/2"?

Any comments would be appreciated.

You dont really need a queen excluder, unless you are making comb honey or such things.
