Although these are pics of my first swarm from last year, it is my first colony. I had been reading about getting bees for about two years and kept telling myself next year....then along came this swarm and said how about now. I have been mesmerized ever since.

All three of my hives came from swarms to my barn walls last spring. I got three swarms to three different, separate cavities in the same barn within a span of two weeks. I had no plans to become a beeekeeper, and then, suddenly, I was!

Been playing catch-up ever since. My bees spent most of this year just rolling their collective eyes at my (well-meant, but sometimes disastrous) ineptitude. They are very forgiving bees.
