If there's no threat of cooler weather chilling brood, I pull a frame or two of brood from the bottom box and put them in the new box above the main brood. Replace the frames in the bottom with new frames.
I did just this two weeks ago (added 2nd deep) and this is what I’ve got from my bees in the new top box now. This is a package I started May 3rd in all new box/frames. Bottom deep is full too. BTW ..... they’ve built out most of the upper frames already too so I would add all the frames and let them build as they want.
