So, I was moving hive equipment between home and two other yards and had an empty deadout sit on my front porch for a day or so. Well, apparently a local swarm took interest and moved right in.

Now I have an active hive within 5 feet of my front door. Don't get me wrong, it has its benefits as random solicitors now think twice before ringing my door bell. But sooner than later I'll need to move them before HOA catches wind of it.

As I have very little swarm catching experience, what would be the best course of action? Wait a week for them to get established or move them to a yard tonight (4 miles away)? Inspect them right away or wait a week? Requeen or play feral lotto? In this area there is a 10% chance they might be africanized but so far they've been pretty docile.

at least half of the swarms I've picked up over the years had a nice big paint dot on the queen. I'd look for that before making any requeen decisions if your main concern is AHB.
