We just got done with this run from 9 deeps. I still have plenty more to go at this point. Funny thing was that I didn't expect to get any honey this year at all. Boy oh boy did these girls fool me. lol :)

First a pic of the extraction. Gotta love that sweet stuff!

Drink Food Distilled beverage Liqueur Frappé coffee

Then the almost finished product. Gotta put some labels on now and they are ready!

Is that a Mann Lake 9/18 ? It looks conspicuously similar to our shiny new extractor, even has the same plywood base ours came on.

Here's ours, just before we turned on the power for the first load a couple weeks ago. I guess it's now a 'used' extractor.

Yes, why yes it is a MannLake 9/18.. Only you have the motorized version.. Which I must say I understand completely why now. :) I plan to buy the motor setup for mine next year for sure..

When we first started with bees, we joined the local club, which had a 2 frame motorized extractor. Ofc, as we quickly discovered, if you aren't careful about what you say, you will become the 'keeper of the extractor' for the club as soon as somebody gets wind of possible storage space in the garage.

When we moved last year, we had to give it back, and the club in our new location had only a hand crank unit, another 2 frame tangential. After using it to extract a half dozen supers last fall, we knew two things. a) We wanted something that'll do a lot more than 2 frames at a time. b) Hand crank is not an option.

BTW grozzie2 Having THREE empty carboys must be against the rules somewhere!?!
That's ok, we aren't breaking that rule. You only see 3 in the photo, but there's half a dozen more hiding behind stuff under that workbench. We've just moved, so we had to completely re-organize, and we didn't put carbouys to use last year, due to the move. We have our first extracted honey now, so the meade will be on the bubble in some of those real soon now. Grapes aren't ready yet around here, but more of them will go to work when the grapes are ready. I may even pick blackberries in the back yard to occupy another one.

have no fear, by the end of September, there will be a dozen or so carbouys with airlocks in them, happily bubbling.

Grozzie2,
May I ask where you got your extractor? Is there a distributor this side of the border or did you get it sent to the other side? If so is it duty free?
thanks
I got it thru Bees and Glass in Duncan. They carry most of what's in the Mann Lake catalog, and what they dont have inventory of, they can get in on a reasonable schedule normally. When I ordered the extractor, it was in a week later. The price we paid, was pretty much the same as what's in the Mann Lake catalog, but that was back when the canuck buck was somewhat higher. I imagine the prices today will reflect a different currency exchange rate. For us, there were no shipping charges, because we picked it up at the store. And that was the big clincher for us, no shipping. I priced getting similar sized units from other sources, and the shipping charges were going to be horrendous. I got the Mann Lake 9/18, picked up locally for a final price that was less than what a smaller unit shipped from the other sources was going to cost.
