propolis traps

I'd like to add propolis traps (the black bendable plastic kind) to the tops of my hives in place of the inner cover. I have cut notches out of my inner covers to provide a top entrance for the bees. Now that I am entirely removing the inner covers, how can I still provide a top entrance...
