Hi all, just got 3.5 tons of pro sweet from Kelleys/mannlake in Clarkson KY. The price is 38 cents a 100lb. Cheaper if you buy alot more. The folks at Kelleys like Jennifer, Paul, and Kathryn are great folks and are very helpful and treat you like family. Pro sweet is thick like honey and it is...

  3. Equipment/Hardware
I have built a top feeder in which the wooden hive box creates a reservoir for the syrup. Can I use a wood waterproof sealant on the inside of the box? I am wondering if it would harm the bees since the sugar syrup would be in contact with the sealant.

Had feeder not working properly. Bees managed to crawl under, inside and drowned. Is it safe to re-use this syrup in a different feeder ?? Thank you

It was suggested that I feed them for a while at least until they get established. I'm feeding them with a feeder that is sitting...

Anyone have any good tips/tricks for filling internal feeders? I was thinking a watering can. The feeder holds a gallon, but i know from years of drinking milk. Milk jugs don't always pour well. Suggestions?

This is my first year beekeeping. It has been a dream of mine for quite some time, and remained so, due to the fact that the startup costs were too much for me. Well, this year I managed to scrape up enough to get started with 5 colonies. A little about me: I live in west central Iowa on a...
