Adding a ripe cell to the mother colony.

I am trying my hand at queen rearing again this summer. Can I remove the queen into a new nuc just when the flow starts running heavy at the end of the month and drop a ripe cell into the mother colony? Thus creating a brood break and allowing the bees to focus more on honey production? Or will the mother hive produce a ton of e-queen cells that need to be removed to prevent swarming?
