Sometimes I've stored honeycomb frames (w/o mothballs) that looked pristine, only to find later they were moth-maggot-laden and ruined . This fall, I stored a group of comb-frames and placed mothballs in the plastic storage bin with them. No moths or maggots seen since then.
Now, I'm wondering: can I air out the frames of comb for several days (it's to be below 40 or so during the day and in the 20's at night, for 3-4 days to come), seal them in the bin again, and use in hives in spring or late winter? I don't know if the benzene from the moth balls will linger in the wax and/or honey, and don't wanna contaminate any hive the frames'd go back into.
Thx much for any ideas/advice on this.
