Last weekend I pulled my honey supers off my two hives. The bees did me good, I extracted 60 lbs. At the time i noticed wax moths had started to evade one hive>i i clean out everyone i seen and closed the hive after i added my top feeder. Today i went to check both hives and to add sugar syrup and found one hive was totally destroyed by wax moth larvae they were every where in all the frames. The hive was gone. I removed all the frames removed all the larvae and placed around on the ground Demetrius earth. My second hive is strong, i added mite strips and hive beetle traps and refilled my top feeder. Is it to late to do a split using the strong hive to replenish the killed hive, or should i wait until next year. What control tech. should i do to control moths, these guys took over quick.
