Re: How late can I requeen?
Rob, you can realistically do this through the end of July. BUT, do not pinch the queen. Instead, move her to a nuc with a frame of bees and some drawn comb and then let the bees raise a new queen in the main hive. If for some reason, like birds and dragonflies, the new queen does not make it, you still have you old queen and can recombine.
Last year about 90% of my late summer queens never made it back.
Thankfully, the bees are smarter than I am. They are doing well, in spite of my efforts to help them.
