Was looking at a split I made 2 days ago. Notice bees on the ground in front of entrance. There she was the queen. With other workers like attached to her. Thought she was dead but picked her up and after a couple of minutes she started walking around. Dropped her back in the hive and she scooted right down into the box. What is going on? She is not a virgin so no mating flights. When I put her in the new box I was very careful. I have robber screens on. When I made the split there were no queen cells. Thanks

Im no expert, but she looks pretty beat up, so think they were def rejecting her as opposed to maybe saving her. Did you shake in bees from another hive or are all of the bees sisters? Sure she isn't a virgin?Looks a little slim but she may be slimmed down from winter. J

All the bees were from her original hive. All sisters. Not a virgin.

If she is not a virgin how old is she? On inspection did you see any queen cells? What kind of a split did you make and where is the other queen or was it a walk away split and you are still waiting for them to make their own queen?

did you put her in the hive in her queen cage? or direct release? she shouldn't have been out in 2 days. the were probably balling her, what the others said, a queen or queen cell is probably in the split. if they balled her the first time, they will again.

. Put her directly in and they didn’t ball her. I went through every inch of comb I put in that box no cells. Just a couple cups with no eggs.

. Not sure how old. She was from a swarm I caught last year. No queen cells. She was from a split I took her and 3 frames of brood and nurse bees all from the same hive and put them in there new box in a new location. Left the parent colony to make a new queen.

now if you had said that in the first place would have saved everybody the trouble of guessing as to what was going on. My guess she was walking back to her old hive

I was only kidding about the walking, did you do something wrong with the split again no clue, sometimes when things go wrong in a hive they blame the queen, stuff happens only the bees know why
