What to do with honey after a die out

Will have a couple hives lost this winter early with ample unused honey. What do you all do with unused stores. Feed other hives of course but is there any reason I can’t personally use it? Thoughts or warnings?

The only reasons I can think of that you should not personally use it are:

1. You contaminated it with treatments. (Which might not even bother me for personal consumption, depending on the type of treatment)
2. You fed them sugar water and now you have a sugar water/honey mixture (again, not a health risk that I can see, just not desirable)
3. Not capped and has a fermented smell.

Outside of these possible reasons, I wouldn't have a problem eating the honey.

Psm1212 covered all the reasons I could think of for not eating the honey. But, you lost several hives. Were you not going to make splits to replace them? I use any leftover stores for new nucs. Most of my splits stay in the home yard so I lose foragers for around two weeks. Those honey frames sure come in handy for keeping the new hives fed.
