    Default Cappings

Has anyone had any experience with wax capping extruders? Pros? Cons?

Perhaps you meant a cappings extractor?

Guess not, Lyson's device is an extruder.

Thankfully, the bees are smarter than I am. They are doing well, in spite of my efforts to help them.

Excellent piece of equipment, have used one of the Lyson wax extruders for the last 5 years , does a really good job of squeezing out pretty much all of the honey, leaving the wax compressed and ready for melting.

What size is yours and how many frames an hour will it handle?

The middle sized one, it will take 100kg of wax cappings an hour...faster than our Lyson uncapping machine can uncap, approx 285 shallow frames an hour, or 245 deeps.

Does it get hot at all? If so is the heat enough to affect the honey?
    Hindsight is 20/10, not 20/20...
After the fact, I always know what didn't work.

That is good to know. I had one fellow tell me he was not impressed with his but he was new to beekeeping and I was not sure of his assessment. Another question. Are you using the Lyson extracting line? If so what size and pros and cons on it.

No, I'm not using the full Lyson extracting line.
