This is my first time rendering wax but have been harvesting honey and saving my cappings for a few years. A beekeeper who stopped beekeeping probably 15 years ago gave me a bunch of mostly dirty wax the other day, so I figured do one batch with his and then do mine. Anyway, I melted all of his down and got almost 4.5 lbs. The only thing I was not sure about is, is it clean enough. I have attached 2 pictures, 1 of the top of the wax which is clean and the bottom which isn't as clean. Can I just cut the dirt out?
Looks clean enough to me. Dirty is here right out of the solar melter with slumgum on the bottom. Those dark stains on yours don't look like a problem to me. The consumer has to melt it anyways and can do their cleanup.
I was thinking maybe most lip balm, maybe a few candles but if its worth decent money.....
