You need to stop searching for the American Communist Party on google. Ads on websites that you visit are directly tied to your google searches and browsing history.

There are two ways political ad campaigns spend money: Conquest and Retention. Retention advertising is often cheaper and easier since you already like the party. Conquest campaigns will spend more; they have to get your attention. I am not an analyst so I cant comment if it worked or not but in the end its their money to waste I guess.

Mr Admin, the reason that I got a little uptight about the whole thing was because I got the impression that it was Beesource trying for some conquest. Fortunately I found that the advert was generated by Google, now to find a replacement for Google.

R_V when I came to the States about 26 years ago I got onto Al Gores amazing internet by opening an email account with MSN.com. However connecting to the provider through Internet explorer brought on all sorts of junk from MSNBC so I access my provider through Google Chrome so it does not matter where I search google will still get me. If I go through duckduckgo they still want me to go through Google Chrome. I have had this address for 26 years so if I go to another provider I will lose my address I think.

Johno, I take a small pill everyday that makes my days basically the same. I decided to stop taking them a few years ago. My wife started sneaking them into my food. So I started taking them again.

that's why you need a pi-hole. it won't help with junkmail on msn but it will help with any brower ADs/malware.

I've had the same work email since '93. one of the first "internet" email addresses in my company.
I think it's now the oldest because anyone else with an older one has retired.
the corporate mail guys know that when I get junk, everyone else is about to get junk and can "nip it in the bud".

I own a few domains and have had the same home email address for decades as well.
I run my own mail server @ home and the pi-hole will block most of the US based junkmail coming into my mail server because it's DNS based.
it blocks almost all junkmail but my firewall also blocks all unsolicited incoming traffic from the rest of the world first. so no junkmail from the Russians.

the pi-hole is really simple and is a whole house solution. all devices on your home network can use it.

get a raspberry pi, or old PC
install a linux OS on it.
    install pi-hole
change your home dhcp to give out a pi-hole DNS server address
    and you're done

by default it only blocks AD sites (including google) but you can add malware, etc sites as well.

You guys are getting way above my head with this pi-hole stuff, I am so old that I am having difficulty figuring out the key board of my computer, and as far as raspberry pie is concerned I dont eat anything other than apple pie. Now that pill story PSM is quite interesting but I would be bored to death if every day was the same.

Oh, the scenery changes. The urge to choke life out of fellow humans remains consistently low however.

Ha. You might as well said “Just open up the cranium and gently lobotomize the front cerebral cortex, paint it green, galvanize it, and you’re done.”

Exactly. But now I'm contributing a political opinion that I have found will usually distract people from the real issue of the thread in any forum. But still...Exactly.
