This April was very cold in the Northeast and there was no point of feeding the bees syrup until the weather broke around April 27th. I got three nucs on April 28th and six packages on May 2nd. When I installed them, I gave them frames with stores from winter dead-outs and also fed them syrup. It just happen that none of them took in the syrup and I had to throw it away due to fermentation and having a vinegar smell. Granted, when the weather broke, we had 3 days of 90s weather, instantly the maple tree in my yard bloomed. It went from budding to full bloom in a day and the bees were working it. But still, the syrup was just right there and they had some non-forage days due to rain. I even laid out collapse was with honey in the open and they didn't touch it. So what gives???
