    Default new to this

Hi, I'm new to this. I have been certified by the NC State but have tried several times to start a colony. Just got one going finally. Will be asking lots of questions so please be patient with me!!

are you running 8 frame or 10 frame? As to feeder you should feed a new colony for a time. How long depends on whether you are using foundation or drawn comb & how strong the flow is where you are. Adding another box is probably a good idea. Happy beekeeping & welcome. Remember the only dumb question is the one you neglect to ask. So they say

If you have your swarm in a 10 frame, it is time to get 10 frames into that box. Otherwise the bees will see available space and will fill it to their heart's desire, which may not match what you would like.

Welcome. Pull a couple of frames with brood up into the second box and the bees will take it from there.
