Default New beek in southern Texas - looking to learn!

My family received a small swarm box from my mother's friend in December when visiting her for Christmas. We finally got it setup and put some lemongrass oil on the entrance on April 18th. Within days we had little visitor's checking it out. By the 28th we had our first bees! We are now looking into upgrading their accommodations!

I am here to learn all that I can and hope to make some new friends along the way.

We live close to the coast in southeast Texas (Brazoria county).

Welcome to Bee Source and congratulations on capturing the swarm. Everyone loves free bees.

Welcome, there is a Brazoria county beekeepers group that is fairly active and meets monthly.

The closest bee supply house I know of is in Seguin, Gretchen Bee Ranch. They sell anything and everything you would need to keep bees.

I do caution you, south Texas bees can be aggressive at times, but luckily brazoria county is better than most.

    Howdy,

Welcome! Where are you in the county? I have an apiary in Alvin.

There are a few small supply places around, but mail order generally has the best prices.
