    Default Fumigilin-B

Medivet, the Canadian producer of Fumigilin-B, has announced the only source for the raw materials for this product is shutting down, and as a result, they are out of business and selling off any remaining stock before closing their doors in June. We never used it in our operation, but I know a lot of people do.

Its all gone, done and over with at least for now.
We were able to snatch up case quantities enough to last us until 2020 at the last second.
Hopefully there will be a new direction by then.

That makes my opinion beyond dispute!

Somebody on Bee L just posted that someone told him that there was a scam letter going out claiming this and selling substandard product based on the fear it created. I only know about this post and that post and have no knowlage of what is really going on.
    Cheers

Ps The bee l post said there was a scam alert on the medivet website. I did not take the time to look and have never used the stuff.

Where did you guys see this. Link please.
Their web site says beware of counterfeiters.
    Quote from their web site:
Medivet’s label for Fumagilin-B has been illegally copied and someone is selling Fumagilin-B very cheaply as a counterfeit product. If you bought the product from an unreliable source or are unsure if you have the real Fumagilin-B please do not hesitate to contact us for verification. Tel. + 1403 652 4441 or [email protected] Please note Medivet does NOT sell Fumagilin-B anywhere in Turkey or any Middle Eastern Countries.

There is a parallel thread in the Bee Forum, here:
    https://www.beesource.com/forums/show...oors&p=1619735

Post #3 of that thread has a link where a letter from Medivet is posted explaining this situation.

Check the expiration date on those. It has a very short shelf life.

I’m seeing this letter on http://www.honeybeezen.com/worlds-su...gilin-b-shuts/ the site is saying you are shutting down and dismantling your operations by June. This is circulating on the site beesource.com which I believe has over 25000 members.
I can’t find this info on your web site so kind of thinking it’s not true. However, could you please let me know if it true or false. I will post on besource myself if it needs to be corrected.
This is the particular thread (https://www.beesource.com/forums/show...oors&p=1619735) and it is listed in post #3.
Thank you for clearing this up one way or the other.

I don’t know Larry. I asked this question a couple of months ago and nobody seemed to have a clear answer. My understanding is that fumagillin proved to be very effective on Nosema apis, but is not as effective against Nosema ceranae. Since we now seem to see more Nosema c and are seeing less and less Nosema a, I don’t know how effective fumigillin will be going forward.

The lab producing it seems to be a lab company that does vet chemicals and is based in South Korea. Don't know who they are working with.
