    Default Hello from Hico, Texas

Greetings everyone - just joined this Forum after playing as a novice beek since May 2016. I pulled two native hives from an old building on our deer ranch and installed them into regular hive boxes. The hives have grown strong but the girls are extremely mean and hot. I can't check my hives without hundreds of bees hitting my head. I even had a friend stand 100yards away watching me through binoculars - he got popped 5 times. I've attended a few local bee keeping county meetings and decided to start over with purchased bees. So, I'm in the process of wiping out my two hives and prepping the hive boxes to receive new nucs this Spring.

I'm located just south of Hico (near Fairy) Texas and would enjoy making the acquaintance of any beekeepers nearby.

    Best regards,

    Rob

Welcome Rob! Requeening the hives would change their temperament also with mated queens from a non-Africanized source.

Thumbs Up Re: Hello from Hico, Texas

    Hello Rob,

Sorry to hear of those mean bees. Requeening would help them have a better outlook.

The Dino-Bee Club meets in Glen Rose, TX. All the particulars of meeting time and place are here. People come from all around to attend.
Next meeting is this coming Tuesday.
