Default 575 Palleted hives stolen in SE Texas

From FB post by Mark Brady,
These are examples of the colonies that were stolen in SE Texas. A total of about 572 colonies from two beekeepers. The DD are on unique type pallets. All entrances facing same direction. These colonies may say(HH). Harvest Honey. The story and a half’s have a purple lid and some will say Kefiet. We suspect these colonies may have went to California. Let’s try and find these low life’s.

NOT AWESOME! How about I make a suggestion. Have a few non conspicuous game camera's placed in bee yards for safety sakes for everyone that has commercial yards. What is $500 for a few game camera's set up VS the loss of several hundred thousand dollars?

    Frust...
A few things wrong with that. 1) These type situations typically happen at night, 2) Most game camera's don't take great night pictures outside of a few feet, 3) Commercial beeks generally place their hives out in the open, making an inconspicuous setup difficult. These larger commercial guys are going to have to start using some sort of GPS tracking device. These type stories are increasing year by year.

GPS tracking devices are getting smaller and less expensive every month. One does not need to put a tracker in every hive, but only one per bunch say, 1 in a single hive in each or every second pallet.

One thief, shot dead by the owner, would stop a bunch of this mess.
The more I learn about bees, the less I know.

When I lived in Texas, the law allowed the use of deadly force to protect life AND PROPERTY. I think bradbee's comment has merit.
Thankfully, the bees are smarter than I am. They are doing well, in spite of my efforts to help them.

Is there a report of the arrest we can read?

If your hives are in range of cellphone signals, this may work
