    Default Back-asswards sugar syrup

25 pounds of sugar yielded 3.5 gallons of syrup. What is the approximate sugar to water ratio?

Should be roughly 66% sugar. So 2:1 (roughly, by weight it's actually 1.94:1 by weight).

Sugar WEIGHS about the same as water. Therefore, you need 12.5 lbs of water to make a 2:1 syrup with a 25 lb bag of sugar. 1 1/2 gallons of water weighs approximately 12.5 pounds. So to make 2:1 syrup you need 25 lbs of sugar and 1 1/2 gallons of water.

Or more simply, blend 1/2 as much water by volume as sugar.

All depends on how much water you added.....

Sounds like Spur9 made 2:1 or very close.
