Thumbs down What to do with a Queen-less, Honey-less hive?

Had my original hive swarm this spring, and it failed to requeen. I gave it 2 frames of brood 4 weeks ago. Did a check today, still no brood, just random drone cells sprinkled through some of the frames..... hardly any honey.

I thought it was getting robbed a couple days ago so I reduced the entrance down... Based on the existence of maybe a frame total of honey in the entire hive, they had been being robbed for a while.

I have 7 other hives, should I combine this hive with another weak one? If I have a laying worker, will cause problems?

Or should a take up water polo for the summer?

I would shake them out and let them beg their way n other hives, spray bt on the frames and store away from mice.

Combine with another hive, sooner the better. It's even possible depending on your location to spilt that hive in a few weeks.

Personally at this point I wouldnt be concerned with a laying worker.

Also, there's a possibility that adding another frame or two of eggs mixed with capped brood and nurse bees might would do the job. If you decide to do this, do a quick inspection within 8-10 days and check for queen cells.

    Good Luck.

If you've got random drone cells, you've got a laying worker hive.
The more I learn about bees, the less I know.

I'd prob do a newspaper combine and let things work out from there. Still leaves you time for water polo.
