1. How old in days does a queen have to be for the average hobbyist to recognize her as such?
2. When a supercedure queen emerges, she kills any queens still in their cell?
3. A supercedure queen doesn't kill the existing queen. That work is left to the colony?
4. Assuming 3 is correct, how old is the supercedure queen in days before they kill the existing queen?
June 18 inspection: no queen, no brood, no eggs. Placed a frame with 3 swarms cells in this hive.
June 24 inspection: no queen, no brood, no eggs. Swarm cells opened and being taken down.
June 29 inspection: casual quick check of hive. No brood, no eggs. But BBQ. Big beautiful queen.
I am assuming I had a supercedure queen and missed her. Trying to stimulate them with fresh eggs and queen cells only caused her (?) or them (?) to kill the interlopers?
