Default Loose Queen in Package rate?

What would be an acceptable rate of loose (possibly virgin) Queens being shook into packages?

I have seen it from 0% to 1.5% with bulk package orders. Usually noted by absconding bees while leaving the caged queen (validated by finding the queen in the cluster after they left the hive and are in their temporary location) and/or dead caged queen with a laying queen located in the hive.

Cool Re: Loose Queen in Package rate?

I don't buy marked queens. So when I find a mark queen I know it was shaken in with other bees. Found two out of 800 this year. Most the time you find your caged queen dead in the cage.

The Householder's reply seems correct, and is inline with our historical experiences. The rate of "problems" has always been less than the couple queens per hundred that the good package sellers provide.
