The easiest thing to do is buy a package and requeen russian about a month after install, that is what i did. But buying a certified russian queen will be hard most of the certified breeders are sold out.

If you buy pure russian queens and allow them to swarm or supercede, you'll no longer have pure...

The 2 pkgs i got from kellys wete fine. Where i livr in chicago it gets cold so i wanted certified queens so they wouldn't have less traits. I like them. Realy cold tolerant. I myself had no problems. I kinda meant to buy kellys and requeen. I have carnolian too. Both are good bees.

I bought Russian queens from Chris Hewitt, soapandhoney.com in VA. No issues with splits started July here. My learning curve cost me two queens of four bought, not due to any problem with the bees, but with me as beekeeper. The other two built up well and came through winter just fine so far. Chris was extremely helpful to me with information, too. I have nothing but good to report.
