    Default YouTube Files

I would like to send a flash drive with YouTube videos to a country that hasn't got good internet access. For instance the videos from the National Honey Show.

    Anyone know how?

Send It by US mail, Most countries have postal service and it can go through customs fairly easily, Depending on the country you will have to get a custom form to accompany the package. I ship yeast to people all over the world and very few say they di not get it. If the country has a U.S. military base it is al but a sure thing.

Stupid me. What I meant to say is...how do I copy YouTube videos from the internet and place the files in my documents so I can transfer them to a flash drive. I already have someone at their Ministry of Agriculture waiting for the package.

There are firefox add-ons that let you download a copy of a youtube video.

In the firefox url bar enter about:addons, then press enter .

Type download youtube in the search bar of that page (not the firefox search bar up top). You'll get a list of add-ons you can install.
    pick one.

The ones I've used in the past add a download button when you visit a youtube page.

after downloading your videos you may want to uninstall the add-on. some add-ons cause pop-ups wanting you to donate to the add-on maker.

VLC is an open source viewer for video and audio. Major capability, free of all the "spyware" stuff that infects most video ripping software.

It can be used in a two-part hack to get the video location and then save the server version directly to the hard drive.

Step by Step at the top of this page.

Open the youtube video you want to download.

Once it is playing go to the address bar and type ss before youtube.

    Hit enter on your keyboard.

Another site opens, on the right is a big green button saying "download the app and get your video". But don't download the app. Look a couple inches under the green button and there is a link saying "download video in browser". Click it.

A pic of your video appears with a download button and a drop down menu. On the drop down menu select MORE, and you will be able to select the format, MP4 is a fairly universal one likely OK with whatever computer the guy has in the country you will send the videos to. Click MP4 with the quality you want and your download will begin.

R_V has it correct. I use VideoDownloadHelper but there is many addons to accomplish what you want to do. At setup you will choose where to store your videos and what quality. After that it's as simple as transferring to your USB stick.

I do the same with basketball games I coach. The players and families can watch them on youtube and/or download them if they wish. Makes life easier than making 10-12 copies of every game.

    DANG, Oldtimer!
You're not such an "oldtimer" after all.

How about helping me "program my VCR"?
I have exactly ONE more hive than you.
That makes my opinion beyond dispute!

Ha! That would probably be a challenge.

Actually the SS thing I recommended didn't turn out to be such a smart move. I've only ever downloaded the odd video so didn't know, but MP got back to me and said when he tried to download the second video, they wanted money.

Youtube downloader is free and pretty simple to use, been using it for years. Download videos in mp4.

I'll leave the link again: http://download.cnet.com/ytd-video-downloader/
