    Default Best Bees for North Carolina Mountain Climate

    Anyone in the area have suggestions on best bees for colder climates in the NC area? Looking at all options for minimizing winter loses? Any thoughts on Minnesota Hygenics?

    I think any kind ought to do OK for you. I've kept Italians, Carniolans and Russian hybrids up here in ME (Winters down to -25F). You might want to make your choice(s) based on other characteristics that you may or may not want.
    If you want to be successful, study successful people and do what they do.

    I think.buying splits from a long term successful beekeeping in your local area is a good start.

    I live on the nc line of avery co. old beech mountain if you know the place. I have kept every race with equal success. my bees are now mutts and more successful than ever.
