In 2016 I photographed and made personal observations on 29 species of wasps in 12 families here in the Rogue Valley in Southern Oregon. Most people have a fear response to wasps, but I intend to show that they are not to be feared, but cherished for the pollination and pest control services they provide.
Sure, wasps and bees are different. However, bees evolved from wasps and the only real difference is that bees have branched hairs, whereas wasps have simple hairs. Some bees are nearly hairless (Hylaeus spp.) while some wasps are very hairy (Crioscolia spp.). There are even wasps which collect pollen instead of insects like most wasps. So, bees are basically hairy wasps. Therefore, you already love wasps.
