Small swarm (less than 3 lbs) in Rock Hill off Cherry road on 03/21/2017.
Had a extremely small swarm take up residence in a swarm trap in Easley on 3/23/17. This picture is pretty much all of the bees. There was a marked queen, so it was the primary swarm from someone's hive.

Not positive, but I think I see a couple of SHB's that tagged along...

I didn't notice any when I was checking them out, but I'm considering giving them a small frame of brood tomorrow, I'll give it a closer look.
04/01/2017 facebook friend notifys of a swarm 10 to12 ft up in a cedar tree near Laurens SC 29360.Arrived 30 min later to a well formed swarm. Retrieved safely, all is well.
4/2/17, Westminster, SC 29693.
Swarm on my peach tree, so I assume it's from one of my hives. Will find out this afternoon. Put them in a double stacked nuc.
Edit: It looks like they were from one of my hives. The hive I've been removing frames from weekly and that i grafted from. Guess they were determined to swarm no matter what. At least I caught them, it was my best queen.

Just missed out on two swarm calls from the extension office in Oconee county today. They said they've been getting 2-3 calls a day this last week.

Got a swarm in one of our bait hives today (4/16). We were doing our regular checks on them today and saw the cluster on the box from 100 yds. away. First pic was around 2:15pm. Second was about 1.5 hrs. later. Can't help but suspect the swarm is from one of my dad's hives but only one hive is a candidate - so maybe it's not ours. Dad checked this evening and maybe 20 bees still outside. He noticed there's a second piece of comb behind the large one hanging from bottom front. Hopefully now that they're inside they'll focus their efforts there.

March 10th - York SC: While feeding the new packages and swarms, assistance beekeeper recognized a black cloud flying in from the west. Cloud materialized onto a cedar about 20 feet from new packages row. Caught our first swarm today!!
We've "captured" a few in bait hives last year but this was the first real swarm (not in a hive). I feel like it's a rite of passage.
The swarm was at an elementary school a block from my house. They saw it depart their observation hive and go to a tree and then it moved to the cornice on their roof. Couldn't have been an easier location (there's a door onto the roof). Got them to my house and into a 5 over 5 nuc with a frame of capped and open brood from one of my hives.

One of my dad's hives swarmed on 5/26. He saw/heard the cloud moving into a tree about 70' up. We didn't even try to get the swarm given its location that high up.
Greenville, 29605. 98% sure one of my hives swarmed on 5/26.
Hive was healthy and big. I hadn't gone below the QE in quite a while. Neighbors described what I think was the swarm. Add that to the QCs discovered in the hive - including at least one that looked torn open from side, one that looked like it had emerged - and a lower bee population and I think it swarmed.
Apparently checking honey supers isn't enough to recognize or,prevent a swarm.![]()
