Huge swarm in Wildwood MO late afternoon 4/30. Starting to hive them and severe weather moved in. Got about half in before I had to leave and get a second box and let the rain pass. Started at 5:30 and finished around 7:30. Had to scoop them handfuls at a time as they were eight feet up on the trunk of the tree.

5/3/2016 Eureka MO. Swarm call that moved into an eve of home. Unfortunately I won't be retrieving this one as it is two+ stories up with a power line under the hive...

Small swarm in Taneyville Mo. about 1' off the ground.
My son cut the limb and hived them in a nuc. His first swarm.
Had a swarm move into a trap in Branson Mo. next to the police station.
Same spot I got 5 from last year.
Nuc is home and picking up trap in the morning and placing another one in it's place.

Another swarm. Caught at 5:30 in Centralia, very sunny and windy. shook them into a nuc and put a lid on it. waited for the rest of the bees to reform and noticed a lot of bees coming out of the nuc. The bees in the nuc had moved the lid. Had to get a flower pot to set on there. Together they are strong. while I was waiting they reformed and lid of nuc had bees fanning. I shook the rest in and shut the lid for good and took home.

Bait hive has a lot of trafic in and out this morning. 4 empty hives about 50 yards away have a small amount of trafic checking them out also. First time I have seen a bee around any of the 16 traps I have out. I have no ideal if they are committed to any of the boxes cause I have never caught bees yet. Nothing there yesterday though.

PS just watched the swarm move in the above box so not just scout bees

Swarm in trap in Drake Mo. I am not sure of when they moved in as I have not checked the trap since about the 8th of may till today on 6/4/2016. Lots of traffic at entrance. Action that I am more sure of the timing but not wether I have a swarm or just scouts. If it is a swarm, I will be a dink for sure. I know some bees stayed the night in a trap in rosebud Mo and one or two bees at the entrance all day. I will lift the lid maby tommorrow and see before I go and try to transfer the other one in drake.

For sure three swarms this year since may 7th with each being about 8 to 12 miles from each other.

    gww

PS sure hope I have 10 frames in the trap.

6/4/16 small swarm that I was going to open the lid on dissapeared. As of 3 days ago though, say around the 13th, the same trap now has bees in it. I believe it is a pretty small swarm and am going to let it stay for about a month then look and then if it has no hope I will combine it with one of the others I have caught.

8/18/16 Very small swarm in SE Dade County. It wasn't much bigger than a softball. I stuck them in a nuc with drawn comb, gave them some pollen, and will feed, feed, feed. They were only 4 miles from home and 2 feet off the ground. It was worth the challenge to see if I can get them through the winter.

Caught a swarm in a trap back around 8-10. Got a call today on another, but they were gone before I could get there.

Not truly reporting a swarm, but split 6 hives back on the 8th, pulling the queen and 3 frames of brood/stores.

Finally warmed enough to check for queen cells, due to begin emerging Monday the 20th. Even with the cold temps, had 2 with emerged queens from swarm cells that must've been set before I split. I'd call that perfect timing!

    Swarm season is upon us!
