    1 swarm 4-3

    Caught in fiber traps
    1 on 4-4
    1 on 4-5
    2 on 4-7
Swarm Commander used in fiber traps.

2 of the catches in the fiber traps were sitting next to an empty hive also baited with swarm commander and comb. Bees chose the fiber trap both times.

Same hive of Russian hybrids swarmed twice in one week. The first time was 4/21, when they settled on my chain link fence. I was able to hive these. The second swarm, which I witnessed leaving the hive, occurred on 4/26. This second swarm gathered in the top of a 50 foot oak tree. I threw a cord on top, shook them loose, but then they disappeared. Where they went, I still don't know.

5/14/15 large swarm moved into my bait hive (top entrance, 2 warre boxes with an old comb in each box in the middle, lemongrass oil and empty bars in the top box only.) They came in late afternoon, it was cloudy, windy and hot out. Lots of activity all day today! I also had calls for a swarm in Marietta, one in Cumming in the eaves of a house and one in Snellville, but I couldn't make it out to collect them due to a family emergency. Hopefully someone else was able to!

    Lake Carter, Ga.
Clear and sunny, Temp. about 70

softball sized way up in tree,
Not worth the trouble of cutting the tree down, if they want to live they will move to a empty hive body full of frames that's 15 yards away.
So far they haven't moved so they are crazy if they do then that's another matter...

    What is needed:

    • zip code, city or county
    • date when the bees swarmed or when you found the swarm.
    • comments - example: if the swarm came from your hive, or if you were called to pick up a swarm, how long was it there. This is not for cutouts unless the bees just took up residence and are not established. It would also be great to include a small photo of the swarm.

This forum is not for general discussion.
    Regards, Barry

Caught another swarm in my back yard bait give, same spot as the last two years. Moved in today around noon. It was sunny and warm, after a cold weekend. Zip 3001. I hate a video I'll try to post a link to shortly.

    My first swarm was

I put two 3 pound packages of bees in the hives on April 27. On April 30 one of them swarmed, lost all of them. May 4 the other one swarmed. I was able to catch most of them and put them in a different hive today. 30747

top bar hive swarmed today about 15 minutes before i was going to split it. Convenient that I was there and just had to wait for them to cluster in a jasmine vine on a trellis nearby.

Large 4-5 lb+ primary swarm off a feral hive in an abandoned house. Had in a deep 5 frame nuc, but wasn't big enough, so went into a 5x5. Also most of my hives had swarm cells in them upon inspection.

Large primary swarm off one of my hives as reported by the owner of my outyard property, July 2nd. Atlanta, GA.

Unfortunately I've been in Sweden so I missed it completely. Video shows a pretty large swarm

July 30 (2017) 6PM. 30504 (Gainesville). Sunny, clear, 85. A grapefruit sized swarm (maybe 1.5 lbs?) with a nice looking queen. I don't think it was from my own hives....
