One hive gained 4.5 pounds yesterday, presumably due to incoming nectar. Could it be maple?

Chris, I havent seen the tulip poplars on the ground yet but that would certainly explain the bees foraging until dusk. Noticed it yesterday, sun was practically gone and the bee activity was still high.
Thankfully, the bees are smarter than I am. They are doing well, in spite of my efforts to help them.

    JW,

Since I'm old, and can't see the blooms, I've trained the squirrels at my place to throw the first couple blooms down from the tree tops. They are much easier to see that way.
