The little purple flowers mentioned two posts above on 05 Feb 2017 were purple dead nettle. There were also henbit blossoms opening around 10 Feb 2017.

Was suprised to see henbit in bloom already. Downtown Richmond 11/17/17.

Clump is about 3' in diameter. 20' from the nuc and bees are not on it. Must be something better nearby.
Thankfully, the bees are smarter than I am. They are doing well, in spite of my efforts to help them.

April 25, 2018 the Tulip Poplars began to bloom/flow in Chesapeake just south of Norfolk. A major source of our flow and seems a few weeks later than last year.

Here in the Northern Neck, limited birds eye and Deadnettle in bloom My apricot that started booming last year on the 24th is just beginning to bloom although red maples that started blooming on the 22nd last year are full of buds but not yet blooming so we seem a little behind last year.

Strange, my apricots are not close, but the red maple was in full bloom by valentines. He’s been the same week for the last 3 years. The maple for the last 10 years has been more reliable. The fruit trees seem to vary more year to year.

These apricots are supposedly Manchurian Apricots and flower every year around when the red maples start to flower. The plums I have started to flower on the 7th of March last year, Bradford pears on the 18th and peaches on the 29th. Apples which indicate the beginning of swarm season for me started to bloom in Mid April. So this year the maples and the apricot are behind last year but we will see if the rest try to catch up.

This weekend the bees should be off to the races!
