First dandelion flower of the season spotted in Winnebago county, in a very warm, sheltered location.
This is about 90 minutes drive straight west of Chicago. Daffodils still a few days away from popping. Peach and apple tree buds showing a hint of green leaf.
Ogle county, that is N IL. First dandelion spotted in my back yard, and also first open daffodil today. Willow trees are showing green but leaves not fully open.
Today, spotted some flowering bushes from the car, I think they are wild plum. Dandelions are thick in sunny, sheltered areas, and a few here and there everywhere. Stood and watched a while, not one bee lit.
Ogle County, N Illinois.
Saw violets, henbit (I think that's what it is called, low ground cover with purple flowers, smells minty) and willows are all blooming today. Tulips tomorrow or next day looks like. Apples are leafing out.
Ogle county, Northern Illinois.
