    locust.

the poplars on my place are not blooming yet, but some of the foragers are coming back with some of that poplar-looking pollen on their heads.

very strong foraging getting stronger by the day. on the verge of our main nectar flow and swarm season.

Do bees get anything from Crepe Myrtles? We have "tons" blooming here but bees are not having anything to do with them.

It seems that there are so many variants to the crepe myrtle that it is hit or miss. I see bees on the pink ones, where others say they only go to white. But at work we have tons of white and I dont see anything on them.

Buckwheat! Bees loving it right now and bringing in lots of nectar. The fields are abuzz with all sorts of bees, wasps, and flies drawn to these flowers.

the latest drought monitor was released today shows that moderate drought conditions are expanding across north alabama.

no appreciable rain in the forcast for the next 7 - 10 days.

the later variety goldenrod is about to peak here but no pollen seen nor nectar smelled among 30 hives spanning 3 yards.

doesn't bode well for a fall flow here.

And so it begins... Just beginning to see a hint of burgundy from a few of the maples in creek bottoms around here.

Squarepeg: Please let us know when you start seeing Red Bud. You will see it a couple weeks before I do. For some reason, that just seems to mark the beginning of the season for me.
