I have aster blooming in cutovers but no goldenrod yet in Bibb County. Sides of the interstate have a white bloom of something that smells really good. Reminds me of honeysuckle when you first glance at it but it is some spidery looking flower. Anybody know what it may be?

Goldenrod is just starting in Bibb County. Lots of other stuff in the clear cut too, I just don't know it is called.

    Henbit, Dandelion.
    Crocus maybe a week ago.
    Daffodils/Narcissus will be soon.

Bees are bringing in lots of pale to medium yellow pollen.

Yes, hoping for early spring here in decatur/Cullman, al. Starting bees this year my self. I also raise registered black Angus, and a heavily Angus commercial herd of cows. Building some 5 frame med. Nucs now. Hoping to trap my first bee swarms soon. I'll be putting them out next week or so. I built 2 so far, and starting my hives this week (building) . Crossing my fingers, and any tips welcome. Trying to find someone to learn from here is a chore though.

Found some Daffodils in full bloom today. Moving fast this year.

RichinBama, Truly the best learning comes from your own experience with and being mindful of your bees. It does take time. And as you've probably seen by now, beesource is a rich resource for information and experiences being shared. All the best to you.

Thanks sand mtn. It will definitely be a fun journey. Got my 2 5 frame nucs done today, and finishing painting them up. Only need shin for telescoping roof now. Getting my lemon oil tomorrow. Someone told me to get it at hobby lobby, in candle section. I'd never have thought of that. Have a store round the corner from us in Decatur. Which bee club do you go to? I've been to the Cullman club, near farm. No.club in decatur/Morgan co. , but there is one in Lawrence co. Also, where my old place is. Thinking about checking them all out. Then make choices. I'd asked about finding a mentor, nobody heard that ...lol..

Ill be going to our farm in Cullman tomorrow, with all the good rain, and warmer weather, the pastures I hope spring to life. Also, see what is coming in bloom. I got a bunch of tulip poplar, and maples, ect there. Should be interesting. Cows and horses should be loving it in a couple weeks too !😊

    winged elm (ulmus alata)

(probably been blooming for about a week now, it appears to be the source for the dirty pale yellow pollen that is our first big pollen flow of the season)

Way to early for so many things to be blooming and budding out here in SE Alabama – Henry, Dale, and Houston counties have had Red Maple blooming for a couple of weeks, Daffodils and Dandelions are in full bloom, noticed several Crap Apples and Plum trees this week along with several types of flowers that I do not know the names of. Have seen it freeze too many times during the first or second week of March to trust mother nature.

GroundHwg: It's nuts just West of you too. Fields are full of wild turnip blooms, daffodils, dandelions, etc. Ornamentals are poppping. I went to an outyard that sits on a cotton field today and watched hundreds of bees working wild turnips. It is freaking February! Looked at the 15 day forecast and it looks like it might make it down to around 48 degrees within the next 2 weeks. That won't stop a thing. I am scratching my head.

Drove North on Highway 65 from Georgiana to Montgomery. Lots of Red Bud blooming. Kind of started petering out as I was entering Montgomery.
