    Default Nightmares!

My hives are all taken care of and nestled in for the winter, with just the possibility of one more mite treatment in a few weeks. Last night I had a dream that I was inspecting the hives and every frame I pulled, each bee had like 6+ varroa on them.......I think I'm going crazy!

I've had nightmares that the winter wind knocked over my hives in the middle of the night and I went to work without checking on them in the morning so they all froze to death over the course of the day.

I just strapped down all mine. Expecting 40 - 50 mph winds today.

Mine are pretty sheltered , surrounded by tall oaks . We've had some of those high winds over here in Stone County , and I'm OK so far ... I think the hives are too heavy to tip but I think I'll go put some rocks on my covers .

Some things we do because they make sense for the bees. Some things we do because they make sense for us.

What kind of a mite treatment could you possibly be doing in a few weeks in Michigan, especially with the bees all nestled in for the winter?

I had a nightmare that my three hives will produce 3 boxes each of honey next season. It is starting to feel like work not fun.

That's a week's worth of extracting isn't it? Or closer to ten days?

Makes me think, I don't dream anymore. Use to dream books full of stuff. Am I dead? Pinch me please.

    Joerg,
If you are dead... we are all dead.

Which is something to think about. Mainly that we ended up in the same place as some of the other posters in this thread. Time to get right with God.

Not sure if you are asking me....but no I'm not kidding. It is going to be 60 degrees here on the weekend and my hives should be broodless. Perfect time to treat with OAV.

Don't let it bother you Ace. Just leave them there and let the bees eat them in the spring. You can eliminate 2 jobs.

My experience with that is the hive grows too big too fast and would just throw swarms in the area. Could be more of a nightmare.
