Series of videos on brother Adam very well done.
I did a quick search and didn't see where anyone had posted this.

Thanks Woodsy! I hope to import some Buckfast queens from Canada this summer.

Watched the first of those awhile back after I finished reading Beekeeping at Buckfast Abbey. Neat to see him and hear him talk a bit. But... Michael Palmer is my go-to YouTube person.

Seems like 1996 was only yesterday. He is sorely missed. There was no more practical beekeeper or bee breeder than Brother Adam.

Thank you so much Woodsy for posting. It is striking that the native Buckfast black bee was essentially wiped out in 1915. It is somewhat comforting to realize that the problems we face today are unique to our generation, but in earlier generations they had their own problems.

The Buckfast bee and the native black bee are two entirely different "animals" so to speak.

Of course if you look at the boxes of other related videos on the right of the Youtube screen you will notice that the listed one in the earlier thread is Part 1 and there is also Parts 2 & 3 shown as separate videos. Brother Adam was 90 years old when those videos were filmed and he said "he would die in his boots". He is a legend!

And once three is up you will see 4, once 4 is up you will see 5. The last one is fairly short.
I thoroughly enjoyed the videos also and will probably
    watch them again.

Thanks for posting. It encourages me to "be ruthless" with removing less than adequate queens this spring. That's one of my 2015 goals. I suspect I will go from around 30 hives to 15 at the beginning of orange blossom flow, then split at the beginning of saw palmetto a month later.

Understood! My terminology (Buckfast black bee) was inaccurate.

Thanks woodsy. At the end of the 5th video "all races vary considerably". And I would bet this is why they have survived so long.

Thanks, I was looking for this online a while back and couldn't find it. I really enjoyed it - it had some really awful music (particularly in the section on bee biology - which sounded like a horror movie), but other than that, I thought it was really worth watching.
