Default How long for new queen to start laying?

I had moved eggs into a queenless hive and they made queen cells. I checked on Friday and found the new queen. Based on the timing, she probably emerged last Tuesday. I checked the hive today for eggs, but did not find any. If she emerged last Tuesday or Wednesday, about how long does it usually take until she starts laying and I find eggs? Jim

From what I understand it can take up to three weeks for the queen to start laying.

Most likely she will be laying two weeks after she emerges. It could be sooner. It could be later. Three weeks is the outside. After that she will be a drone layer if she mates.

FWIW, in my location, with my bees, I very recently had a queen hatch under similar circumstances and she started laying in 10 days. She has gotten bigger since hatching, and has darkened a bit.

16 days after my queen hatched I noticed larva. I cant see eggs very well. I looked very hard on the 2nd of Aug, nothing. On the 4th of Aug I see a good patern of Larva.

You can generate a queen calendar using this tool ... Gives all the timings you need.

Michael's site also provides good info:

I use the bee yard calendar a lot but before I found it I always figured on seeing eggs 30 days from when I started the nuc or gave them a frame of eggs. I've seen it take 34 days but it's rare. 26 days is more common.

Any way you figure it this will be around 2 weeks after emerging.

At 40 days I throw in the towel and combine them.
