A couple of my science fiction writing friends, Jerry Pournelle and Larry Niven, are fans of a strip called Freefall. They recommend it highly. It can be a bit dumb at times, but the underlying themes can be pretty engaging. The depictions of space travel show the creator has sufficient understanding that they might actually have astronaut training. The main story is about the rights of artificial intelligences, and Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics.
But there are a number of fun little "Easter Eggs" in it as well, including this one for beekeepers:
