How often do you cull old comb as a management technique?

I rotate out 2 combs a year per box so that I have replaced all the brood comb in my 10-frame boxes every 5 years. (I date my frames so I can keep track.) I keep them as extra/emergency comb for another 2-3 years before trashing them completely. I'm trying to avoid a buildup of pesticides in my hives.

I don't. What pests?...wax moths? ;-) From what I've read the main reasons to cull "good, undamaged" combs are...too much drone is the only reason old timers around here would inentionally trash comb.

    Build up of Spores
    Build up of insecticides
    Too much drone cell
    Cell regression

I'm foundationless and treatment free. I only scrap it if it's built wonky.
