Really just getting started here, but it looks very promising. My hives are building comb on it already.

Wow building comb already, must be close to a massive field. The golden-rod is budding, no blooms yet. Im guessing in the next week they should pop.

Wow! You Tn. guys are slow. We are just busting here in Pa. the misses and I were driving the interstate just getting an eyeful of the golden oceans.
Funny how a few degrees in latitude can make such a difference!

GR going by here in NW Vermont and NE New York...northern Champlain valley. Haven't checked the production hives yet, but the nucs did well on it. Judging from the intensity of the smell, I would say the flow was strong.

We started to have a flow 3 or 4 days ago. Modest shake but dragging in lots of pollen. Looks like it should at least fill in the brood chambers since we are lite right now

I see lots of bloom of Goldenrod here, but no smell of it coming from the hives, even right up close.
My bees are not taking in any more of the 1:1 I started feeding them in small batches about two- three weeks ago.
The fact that they are not taking down the 1:1 right now, does this indicate that they may be bring in nectar
    from the local Goldenrod?

Looks like GR has just started blooming here. I think there will be more than usual this year due to this crazy Spring and Summer. All my hives gained 10 - 13 lbs. last week. Can barely get the smell now. Can't wait to see the weight gain when in full bloom.

I am familiar with GR but is there a distinct smell as I do not notice it in my years. I harvested most of the honey before the GR bloom and have left one super per hive. Is this honey any different than multi floral honey?

Not sure what it tastes like as I don't harvest it, but leave it for the winter stores. But it smells like sweaty socks. Very distinctive.

Smells bad? Yeah but when you sniff the flower it smells fine. Your/my hives smelling like gym socks doesn't mean anything. I was excited to harvest/select goldenrod... I thought it tasted alright? Is this like buckwheat when it tastes different?

Lots in bloom here, but the flow has been spotty. Too much rain maybe?

I was kind of thinking the rain we had would be good for the Grod, we didn't have much rain for about two-three weeks leading up to it blooming. I'm hopping there will be no killing frost before
Halloween. We are supposed to have a warmer then usual Fall this year.
Seen the bees bringing in big balls of dark yellow orange pollen today.

Here in southern Ohio the first growth Goldenrod has dried up along with the Joe Pye weed however the second growth Goldenrod is now beginning to bloom along with the Japanese Knot weed and the bees are working hard to bring in the nectar. Also one of my hives is evicting drones, I suspect the other hives will be doing the same shortly, a sure sign of fall.
