My bees are hitting this stuff but I don't know what it is. Any ideas? Nectar or pollen?

It looks like an asclepia, on of the milkweeds.

Also known as butterfly weed, an excellent native plant.

As far as I know, it is a *great* nectar plant. Apparently you can eat the flowers raw, and they're somewhat sweet due to the nectar.

Butterfly weed is an excellent nectar source, if only there was more of it around my area, you only see it rarely along the highways. I grew lots of plants from seed a few years ago and now I have dozens of them in my yard. They are extremely drought tolerant, and thrive in poor soils. John
