    Default swarm caught

    i have a 10 frame swarm box.i caught a swarm yesterday,i checked it at dusk and just looking in the entrance hole it looks to be crowed.the? i have do i let them be for awhile, or do i get them into a hive body right off.thanks for the help.

    If you can, give them a couple of days to get the queen laying. Once that has happened they typically won't abscond and you can move them a permanent box.

    If you don't have ten frames in the swarm trap, move them today. Otherwise you will have a couple inches of comb on the top of the box and the queen will have been laying in it, and they will ignore the frames. You will have to discard the comb when you move them.

    If you do have ten frames in the box, a day or two won't hurt, but you need to get them into a proper hive fairly soon -- if you have a large swarm as is typical this year, that box will be too small in a few weeks.
