Default What is this Red watermellon colored Honey?

A few of us were having an extracting party and a couple of frames had a few of these amazing red cells of honey. When we tasted the honey from these cells it seemed to have a slight cinnamon or spice flavor. I would describe the color as "watermelon". The hives were in a populated village environment. Any guesses as to what the source would be. I did consider the possibility that the bees had stored some red pollen in these cells and then put honey on top. I'll attached a picture. There are more pictures here:

Honey made from humming bird food.(red dye)

Is there a summer snow cone stand in the village? Sounds like the bees found a source of flavored syrup.

Ah ha! Hummingbird feeders! Plenty of people around feeding hummingbirds by adding red dye to sugar solution. I find it interesting how segregated these cells were. Probably a dozen bees got into a feeder for a day but the house bees put all that nectar into a single cell, while all the surrounding cells did not contain the dyed syrup. Well It made a pretty pattern on the frame.

    Dave,
If you want to be the good Samaritan in your "Hood",,you can educate them on the unknowns about dye for humming birds. It's cheaper to make 1:1 than buying the prefab dyed stuff and requires little if anymore effort. I had some "Rudolph the red abdomen honey bees" myself. Usually, the source is close by.
