Bee brush holder
From all of us to you !!!
I have used the fogger for more than 20 years using FGMO and thyme oil mixed as Dr. Rodregas taught me and have used nothing else. It does control the mites very well. I use to run 500 hives but...
If at all possible set up a sprinkler for 24 hours and most of the robbers will go home and stop robbing
I bottle it and wait for it to crystaleze then I sell it for $2.00 more than regular honey. People around here will pay a premium price for it. I have a long list of customers waiting for it.
I would check for a new or unmarked queen before adding more brood
Has any one thought that these dead bees might have been trying to robe the hive and just followed the smell of honey where it was the strongest. (Tis the robbing season now )
Clint ( just my 2...
I fill 1 pound jars to the top. it looks better and does bring back good words about you. The difference between 1 pound of honey and a full jar runs about 1 ounce.
The frame is a drone frame. If you run the wires outside then you can hook it up without opening the hive. I check the frame 3 to 5 days later and if it is cleaned up by the bees then you have very...
I was in on the testing of this product. It was invented by Dr. Zachary Wong at Michigan State University. It is simple to use and works well.
Need more info! Bees will only pull plastic foundations with a heavy flow. Wood frames and wax foundation bees will pull with a flow or if you are feeding them. That is my opinion!!!
With a newly hatched queen after a swarm it could be 8 to 24 days depending on the weather and how soon she gets mated. she will stay in the hive 2 to 4 days after emerging then go on her mating...
I keep both bottom and top entrances open and let the bees decide which to use. If the hive is left like pix 1 it may just leave the hive! Do you have enough ventlation to keep the hive cooler?...
I have tried white and black plastic foundation along side hives using wax foundation.
The first week during a heavy flow the hives remained equal. 1 1/2 frames pulled with some spots of eggs.
I have heard and like baked BEANS but never tried Baked BEE'S.
If I were to try this I would put the Nucs in my basement. for the 3 days, but you will still need to feed them.
Thanks to everyone for posting with your Views on the meeting.
20 great venders with a lot of great prices. 1 vender specializing in Top Bar Hives and 2 great classes on doing top bar hives.
The venders there Maxant, Walter Kelly, Dadant, Mann Lake
You might want to check around for some one spraying pesticides around near you. Sure sounds like mites or pesticides to me
The flows have been running here in the Lansing area for about 3 weeks and if you have gotten enough rain then your flow should have started last week. I have about 2 full 6 5/8 suppers on 3 hives. ...
I keep mine between 18" and 3' and have lost very few queens. My log for the last 5 years shows about = loss at either height. 2 to 7 queens out of the 75 I make.
Went out to our hives today and found a bad case of CCD only 4 hives double deeps with 3 suppers on them were involved. No bees, No Bodies of dead bees but the funny part is they must have taken the...
Thanks for all the help! Still recovering from health problems but plan to be at HAS this year with my wife Lynne /driver/better half you know the rest. I'll be the one with the tall fancy walking...
It happens. Try to find the ant nest and kill it by using a shovel and ant killer. This sounds like Carpenter ants and they will kill the hive if given enough time. Remember poisons that kill ants...
I have gotten the best results by grafting no more than 2 hours after pulling the frames. My success rates run between 95 to 100 percent. Of course I have only been grafting for 20 years.
Add another frame of foundation into the cell builder. You have young nurse bees with nothing else to do but build comb where there is none.
