    Raccoons have the dexterity and strength to do that. Usually I catch them prying off feeding jars.

    I use double deeps in order to brood up fast and large as possible. I can't get Queens early enough to make splits so I try and manage through adding space and re-balancing hives by robin hooding...

    Sometimes I find the position of the frame makes a difference. if you place the new frame in the center between worker brood frames you'll more likely get worker...place at the perimeter you get more...

    Recently I had to eliminate 2 hives that were too aggressive to work with or requeen. I would have been happy to sell at a discount all those bees. I figure I could shake about 10 pounds worth.

    I started feeding late July because of the dearth. They went down to 1 frame of brood per deep and now are up to 5 frames of brood. The stronger hives also have made some new comb with some drone...

    Nectar in old frames

    Lost 2 hives last fall. I froze as many frames as possible but lacked the space to do all.
    I put the rest in closed bagged boxes.
    They have honey, pollen and nectar in them and I want to know...
