    Re: Brushy Mountain Extractor motor

I have the 9 frame manual crank. I bought a lathe motor kit from penn state for $120. Works perfectly. Comes with motor & speed controller. Had to fab up a bracket but that was easy. Painted it green...

Re: Johno's Easy Vap - Vaporizer

    sc-bee

I'm not sure if this will be enough power, only 140 watts. I run mine on a 900 watt cobra I picked up on Amazon a few years ago for about $40.

    Works great for me.

    Re: Band heater vaporizer.

Also a question for johno. The type k thermocoupler you mentioned is the type used for multi meters. I have not found a particular listing for such. I did find those used for thermometers. Are these...

Re: Not enough honey stored; what to do?

Respectfully speaking, sugar bricks have saved my hives from starving several times when weather conditions were less than favorable. Each to his own, but they do work. BTW I haven't lost a hive to...

Re: Vaporizer Instructions "by the book"?

    Re: Smoker Question...

I had the same problem at first but then I added a canister inside full of holes to allow better flow. No problems now. Did yours come with the metal grate in the bottom? If so try bending the...

    Re: Swarm cells or supercedure

looks like a prime opportunity to expand if you have the resources to do so. If not just let the bees sort it out. They know what they're doing.

Re: Feeding sugar after honey extraction

Feeding bees is an emergency management practice. You should leave them enough stores to winter on. If they seem too light in the fall, then feed. I use sugar bricks as emergency winter feed. Haven't...

    Re: Queen ejected

Tmac, you need to open the hive & see what's going on. Otherwise it's all guesswork.

    Re: Frames to top bar

This entire premise is not logical.
For natural and (possibly, but not necessarily) smaller cell size, you need to be foundation-less keeper (not top bar keeper).

    Top bar is foundation-less...

    Re: new to this

are you running 8 frame or 10 frame? As to feeder you should feed a new colony for a time. How long depends on whether you are using foundation or drawn comb & how strong the flow is where you are....

    Re: Top Bar?

Off centered comb guides will cause that. So will a hive that is not level. Bees are expert builders.

Re: Thoughts on this candy board?

Special K nailed it. I live in Sumner Co, near Portland. I use sugar bricks every year with a 3" ventilated shim. works great and keeps moisture buildup down.
